Sleep & Its Role in Your Health

Everyone loves a good night’s rest.  Am I right?  But sometimes there’s just so much to do in an evening that sleep gets put on the backburner.  Well, Thrive is here for you and your health.  And since we are always looking out for you, we want to make sure you know just how important an adequate amount of sleep is for your health.

So, here are some reasons you should get more sleep and be on your way to a healthier you:

  • Sleep gives you more energy. This might be obvious and something we all know, but this is what we often forget about when we are dragging during the day and reaching for all sorts of caffeine.  If you find yourself having trouble staying awake, try to get more sleep at night! I’m sure you will have more energy throughout the day and you won’t feel so sleepy all the time.
  • Sleep makes you more cheerful. After a restful night, you will be in a much better mood than if you didn’t get any sleep at all.  However, sleep plays a more crucial role in your emotional help than most people think.  People who have trouble sleeping and don’t get enough sleep, have an increased risk in experiencing depression.  If we think about it, this makes sense… after a long period of time of not getting enough sleep, our body becomes weak and our mind sometimes goes down a dark road.
  • Beauty sleep is a thing! During sleep, your body repairs damaged cells and greatly benefits your skin.  Not only that, but deep sleep also allows your cells to increase production and reduce protein breakdown.  All in all, sleep is great for your skin!
  • Getting enough sleeps leads to having a strong immune system. If you give your body the amount of rest it needs, you are less likely to get sick and be affected by everyday germs you pick up.  If your body is healthy, it is more likely to fight off germs than if your body is run down and playing catchup.

Who doesn’t want to have more energy, be in a better mood, having glowing skin, and naturally not get sick?  We want that for you!  So snuggle in and sleep tight!
