4 Tips for Organizing Your Apartment This Fall

Each season requires different treatment from each of us!  As new seasons come, I am always a stickler about feeling refreshed and being as ready as possible to enjoy the season ahead.  Here are 4 helpful tips for organizing your apartment this fall.

  1. Do some fall cleaning. Seriously, it doesn’t have to be deep cleaning, but fall is a great time to pick up your house, do some dusting, and cleaning of your apartment.  Especially since the holidays are quickly approaching.  The more cleaning you do now, the less you will have to do later on when you need to spend your time shopping and decorating your pad.
  2. Get rid of items you don’t use! While you’re cleaning your home, make a pile and get rid of the items that are in your way, but you just don’t even use anymore!  I know it is hard to get rid of anything these days, but if you forgot you even had the item, you will never miss it.  So, ditch the stuff that is just cluttering your place!
  3. Clean out your closet! This is the time of year where we find ourselves stuffing our closets full of new clothes, and just keep pushing our old clothes to the back.  As we find ourselves doing this, it is also the perfect time of year to just get rid of the stuff we don’t wear or doesn’t fit.  This plays nicely with #1 and #2.  If you don’t wear it, give it away to someone who will.
  4. Create a “ready to go pad”. Seems like a crazy concept, but it is so helpful!  Wondering what it is?  A “ready to go pad” is an area by the door where you place all of your items so when you leave the house, they are all in the same place and ready to go.  Thinking of items that you might place here?  Anything you need when you leave the houseà keys, purse, wallet, shoes, rain jacket, and umbrella.  Having a central place in your home where you can locate your “out the door” items help get you out the door quickly!

Ready, set, think fall!  Enjoy the season!
